Bitcoin price broke through the landmark $40,000 mark

On the evening of January 7, it took the leading cryptocurrency just over three hours to break through the psychological mark of $40,000 (on Bitstamp).

Update. After going above $40,400, the price went into a correction and fell to levels around $37,000.

Famous trader Alex Krueger reminded that he assumed a similar movement of cryptocurrency.

During the day, bitcoin took in $39,000 around 19:00 MSK. The previous round mark – $38,000 – was conquered by the leading cryptocurrency around 15:00 MSK.

The distance between the previous historical high of 2017 around $20,000 to today’s more than $40,000 bitcoin rate has overcome in less than a month, reminded the founder of The Block Mike Dudas.

The price of Ethereum, the second most capitalized cryptocurrency, reached $1288, approaching the historical high of $1448 recorded on January 13, 2018 (per CoinGecko).
